Med-peds residency is a different type of residency, and after learning more about it, it was a perfect fit for me. I loved being able to learn how to care for newborns while at the same time learning how to administer palliative care to an elderly patient who was dying. A med peds doc has had significant inpatient hospital training for both children and adults and are better equipped to handle these diseases that many adults now suffer from. While family docs also receive training in both subjects I believe it tends to be less inpatient based.
